My Flat-coated Retriever has incredibly fine -- and somewhat dry, since her surgery -- hair that will knot horribly if it isn't regularly brushed. I don't like metal bristles because I am always fearful they will hurt my dog's skin. Also, they become crooked in very little time, making the brushes useless. I am always looking for bristle brushes that aren't too soft, and this one fits the bill perfectly. My dog loves to be brushed, and the JW Pet brush is always a treat. It also leaves her hair glossy and smooth, as it should be. I have to believe this is a manufacturing defect on a single brush, as this generally seems to be a product that other users feel is very good.We have a 2.5 lb Shih-Poo puppy who is about the size of a large guinea pig, so after 2 uses I certainly wouldn't expect to see wear and tear on a brush. Unfortunately, when just cleaning off the very little bit of hair that came off the dog after the second use, all the bristles came out of one of the "plugs". Is the brush still usable?
