I have two cardigan welsh corgis; their coat is very similar to that of GSDs - long outer guard hairs & a very dense undercoat. The saying is that corgis shed twice a year - between January and June, then from July to December, although the shedding is worse spring and fall, so I've been keen to find a grooming tool that can keep down the loose hair around the house. I find it is orders of magnitude superior to the furminator for getting out the undercoat without damaging the outercoat, and its comfortable to use even during long grooming sessions. I find it works best if a lightly spray my dog with just water or even a 'fast bath' non-soapy spray product, to keep the fur from flying around. Just finished a grooming session with the JW rake and my corgi looks sleek, shiny, and 5 lbs lighter! I have lots of other grooming tools and this rake absolutely works the best. This brush is awesome. I have two chow chows and a german shepherd and they all shed abundantly. This comb pulled the excess hair on the chows from the skin pretty much. At first they wiggled a little while trying to brush them but once they realized the excess hair was coming out they just sat and gave me that "thank you" look. I have tried several different products for the chows because they are so thick and none really get very deep. This comb does!! I would recommend it for any long, thick hair breeds. |
